INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN MURDER IN THE GROVE

Murder In The Grove invites mystery, thriller, suspense and romantic suspense authors, other writers, crime professionals and others to share their knowledge through panels and workshops at the conference.

Panels are aimed at readers of the above fiction and will be comprised of authors or publishing professionals who will talk about their books, the writing life, and general topics of interest.

Workshops are geared toward the craft of fiction writing, forensics, and/or criminal investigation and procedures will be given. Presenters do not have to be published, but should be an expert on the proposed subject.

Both panels and workshops are fifty (50) minutes in length. To propose a workshop or panel for Murder In The Grove, please read the following information carefully:

Conference compensation:

  • workshop presenters and panel participants will be given a free registration to the conference ($95 value) in compensation

  • you'll be invited to a "speakers' dinner" on Friday evening before the Barnes & Noble book signing. All authors are invited to sign at B&N. The "Boise Trolley" provides a fun ride for participants between the hotel and the bookstore.

  • in addition, workshop presenters will also receive an honorarium of $50

Submissions will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • subject suitable to audience

  • subject meets conference program needs
     
  • presenter's expertise/experience

Conference wish list/topic suggestions:

  • Panel topics should appeal to fans of mystery, suspense and romantic suspense fiction.
     
  • Workshops on the craft of writing suited to new writers as well as advanced are being sought, in addition, subjects such as honing one's pitch to agents and editors, the mystery/suspense/romantic suspense market, the writing life, writing a breakout book are all being sought.
     
  • Workshops presented by experts in forensic fields of any kind are always popular with our conference attendees.

2. Cast an eye over the wish list (keep in mind that you are welcome to submit workshops on topics not listed)
